Fall Book Sale!

Chestertown boasts of many traditions, and one of the favorites is the semi-annual Friends of the Kent County Public Library (FOL) book sale. It’s being held a little earlier this fall, good news to those of you who want to stockpile some good reading for those long winter nights or perhaps to get a head start on holiday shopping.

Both the regulars and those new to the sale will be delighted by the wide selection — non-fiction covering hundreds of topics, fiction ranging from best sellers to classics as well as plenty of DVDs, games, music, and puzzles. It’s fun to browse and discover some “finds” that you can’t resist. But why should you? The prices, most ranging from 10¢ to $2.00, are budget friendly. You’ll be pleased with your purchases and with the knowledge that you’re helping our public library.

Here’s this fall’s sale schedule:

• Thursday, October 22, 5:30 to 7:30
Preview Night, open for members only, kicks off our sale. Current members may bring the invitation they received in the mail for admittance, but non-members may join the FOL at the door for only $10 per person. Attend Preview Night to be among the first to take advantage of the diverse selection of sale items. Enjoy snacks and beverages after you shop.

• Friday, October 23, 10:00 to 8:00
On Friday we open the sale when the library opens its doors and remain open until 8:00 pm. Come when you can — during the day or after work.

• Saturday, October 24, 10:00 to 3:00
On Saturday we encourage you to bring the kids in to make their selections. Life-long readers start young.

• Sunday, October 25, 10:00 to 3:00
Sunday, the last day of the sale, is our famous “box day”! Bring your own box and fill it up. You’ll pay only five dollars a box.
So come enjoy this semi-annual sale at the Kent County Public Library, 408 High Street, Chestertown, Maryland. Cash or check only please; we can’t accept credit cards. All proceeds from the sale go to benefit the library, subsidizing the purchase of new books, making needed upgrades to the physical space, and supporting community outreach programs.
If you’d like more information about the sale, please call call (410) 778-9238. Or, if you’d like to volunteer to help set up before the sale or assist during it, we’d love to hear from you.
